Best Practices for OneNote Password Security

In Microsoft OneNote, you can only lock and unlock specific sections, as the application does not support password-protecting entire notebooks or individual pages. When you apply a password to a section, all of the pages within that specific tab are instantly secured and hidden until the correct password is provided. How to Lock a Section Right-click the specific section tab you want to secure.

Select Password Protection, then click Add Password (or Protect This Section). Type your preferred password into the Enter Password field. Type it again into the Confirm Password field to verify. Click OK or press Enter to save your settings.

Note: Passwords are case-sensitive. Be absolutely certain you can remember it, because if you lose or forget the password, Microsoft Technical Support cannot recover your data.
